Appreciating the little things in life

Most of us spend our life by just thinking about the future and daydreaming about how one day we will be happy ,if not today. What we usually forget is that happiness is not dependent on some particular day in our lives but it can be found anytime ,we just need to bring our lives back to the present.

I have been pretty upset these days due to some things being very rough at home.But I do not allow myself to frown all day instead I make sure that I keep doing things which keep me sane or give me instant happiness or make me feel light . Here are some of the things ,I like to do on bad days :

  1. Listening to favourite songs- I believe that you don’t find songs instead songs find you . I listen and sing my heart out and it 100% makes me feel much lighter . Lifts up my spirit and makes me see life through a much clearer perspective .

2. Making myself a cup of coffee —Ah! the smell of coffee specially when its exactly how you wanted .

3.Writing my thoughts on a sheet of paper -It surely makes me feel like as if someone is there to listen to my feelings and understand how I feel though it can’t converse with me .

4.Decluttering my work space-It helps in putting out the negative vibes and it metaphorically declutters my mind too and helps me to focus on important work and give my 100% percent without stressing much.

5.Meditation- gives relief on the mental level, and helps me shut off the chatter in the mind.It teaches me to accept the fact that some things are beyond control and we shouldn't spend our whole life cribbing about it and wasting our precious moments .

6.Talking to my mother — It is always comforting whenever I talk to my mother .She is kind of like my safe space . Everything that is bothering me ,stops to bother me whenever I share it with her as if she has the cure to all problems ,her words seem to have a healing effect . It is a blessing to have her .

7.Focussing on my goals —We know that an empty mind is a devil’s workshop so I make sure I work on things which bring me a step closer to my goals . It makes me feel good and confident . It makes me feel that I am the driver of my life and can take my life to the perfect place that I want . I want to make my mother proud of me and give her the luxuries she never had . She has made so many sacrifices for me but never complaines .So that is my way of reaching closer to the day when I can say ,“I did it ,Ma.”
